The Lives of Teens and What Parents Want to Know!


Please Join us for a Community Discussion About Teen Trends, and Ways to Engage Young People in Positive Activities


The Prevention Needs Assessment (PNA) is a survey of Berkshire County middle + high schoolers participation in pro-active and risky behaviors regarding friendships, alcohol use, and early sexual behavior (to name a few). You’ll gain an honest view of teen lives in this presentation.

Herberg Middle School                June 6    6:00-7:00



This discussion night will be facilitated by Pittsfield School Guidance Counseling staff, Berkshire United way staff and Boys & Girls Club staff.

Rules and Expectations for PHS Dances

  1. PHS students are allowed to bring one (1) guest to school dances.  Guest must be pre-registered with Administration, prior to the day of the dance.  PHS students are responsible for the behavior of their guests.


  1. Students must be present in school the day of the dance.  Students can not attend the dance if they are suspended (including ISS) for that school day (Friday suspension carry through the weekend).  Students with chronic discipline must get approval from an administrator.


  1. Students will be granted entry to the dance up to ½ hour after the start of the dance.  Any student arriving after the first ½ hour will not be admitted.
  1. When students arrive at the dance, they must enter the dance and stay inside at least until ½ hour before the end of the dance.  Students may leave only if the parent/guardians are contacted.
  1. There will be no provocative dancing.  Face-to-face dancing only.  Violators will be asked to leave the dance and possibly receive administrative consequences.
  1. Students are expected to adhere to school dress codes. No exposed midriffs, short shorts or skirts or low-slung tops or bottoms will be allowed. Violators will receive administrative consequences.  For Semi-Formal dances, boys are expected to wear a tie and it is suggested that no sneakers and jeans are allowed.
  1. Dances are considered school events so all school expectations, including the drug/alcohol policy, apply.  

Students who do not adhere to the rules will receive administrative consequences and will not be allowed to attend school activities and future dances.

Please note: No work permits will be issued from the office at 269 1st Street from March 5th to March 8th 2018. Please plan accordingly to prevent inconvenience.

May 29th 2018

SAT - any Junior coming to PHS this Saturday, June 2 to take the SAT please arrive no later than 7:30 AM, remember to bring a photo ID, your admission ticket, pencils and a calculator.  If you do not have a photo ID - please see your School Counselor BEFORE Friday.
